Apply to graduate
Deadlines: March 31 (Spring) and August 31 (Fall)
All undergraduate and graduate students who expect to graduate at either the Spring or Fall Convocation must complete an Application to Graduate. It is each student's responsibility to ensure that they have met the requirements to graduate.
Graduation is the awarding of a degree or certificate following the satisfactory completion of a student's program of studies. Convocation is the ceremony at which the degree or certificate is publicly presented. The word "Convocation" arises from the Latin "con" meaning "together" and "vocare" meaning "to call." The University of Saskatchewan's Convocation ceremony is a calling together of new graduates.
Tickets are required to attend the ceremony. The reception is open to everyone—no tickets are required. The reception follows the ceremony in the main lobby and Grand Circle lobby of TCU Place.
Graduands need to be backstage at least 45 minutes before the start of their ceremony. Latecomers may not be allowed to join their fellow graduands once the procession into the theatre begins.
Graduate students will graduate with their respective colleges.

The University of Saskatchewan would like to remind all students and guests attending the Convocation ceremonies to be aware of the H1N1 flu precautions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people with flu-like symptoms remain at home at least 24 hours after they are free of fever without the use of medications. It is important to maintain good respiratory etiquette and hygiene to reduce the risk of infection as much as possible. For more detailed and updated information please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website or the University of Saskatchewan Pandemic Influenza Planning website.
If you require more than seven guest tickets, unallocated and unclaimed tickets will be distributed at TCU Place starting one hour before each ceremony, and will be given out on a first come, first served basis. There is no guarantee that extra tickets will become available.

Graduands should immediately settle all financial responsibilities with the University. Students who have outstanding financial obligations to the University will be allowed to graduate and attend the Convocation ceremony, but will not receive the parchment or any other official documentation of the degree, receive transcripts or be eligible to reregister until the account is cleared.
The deadlines to clear overdue accounts so that you may receive your parchment at the convocation ceremony is Friday October 16, 2009
Undergraduate graduands who have accumulated credits from another university to satisfy the requirements for their degree, but have not prearranged for an official transcript of these credits to be sent to the University of Saskatchewan, must arrange to have one mailed directly from the issuing institution to Admissions at the University of Saskatchewan, to be received by Wednesday October 14, 2009. Faxed transcripts will not be accepted.
Graduates who plan to return to the college from which they are now receiving degrees, or to another college, must submit an Application for Admission. Graduates who are returning as Open Studies students are not required to apply for admission.
Graduands are expected to attend the Convocation ceremony to receive their degrees in person. Those who do not attend will receive their diplomas by mail in June (Spring) or November (Fall).
The University of Saskatchewan Alumni Association will have a diploma framing service set up at TCU Place. Exclusive University of Saskatchewan diploma frames will be available for purchase in the main foyer after each ceremony. Bring your parchment and have it framed right there! There are four styles to choose from, with pick-up prices ranging from $68.00 to $225.00 plus taxes.
Pre-order online by October 23rd or call 966-5186 if you have any questions. Pre-ordered frames will be available for pick-up at the Pre-order Table in the main foyer right after your ceremony. Remember to bring your parchment with you when you pick up your frame.
The Convocation Office does not coordinate graduation photography. Many colleges and/or departments do make arrangements for their graduating class. Please contact your college or department to find out if any details have been arranged.
If your college or department has not coordinated graduation photos you may choose to contact a local photography studio. Many of these photographers stock gowns and hoods for graduate photos. The University Bookstore may also have U of S gowns available to rent for the day.
Students wishing to purchase a DVD of Convocation are to contact Educational Media Access & Production (EMAP) at media.access@usask.ca or phone 966-4261. Past ceremonies can be viewed at online.
