Volunteering

There are many ways you can get more involved in university life and in events and activities in the City of Saskatoon. Through volunteering with ISSAC, you can develop friendships with people from all over the world and gain invaluable experience working in a cross-cultural setting. Here are some ideas where to start.

International (I) Connect Peer Leader (IPL)

IPL APPLICATION 2013-14  available  Februrary  2013

You can be a central part of one of the most exciting and important times in the lives of new international students at the U of S!  You can be an I-Connect Peer Leader!

IPLs are senior students who want to be part of a dynamic, caring and motivated student leadership team for our International (I)-Connect Program. Peer leadership is valuable to new international students for their settlement and to receive the help and community they need to be successful in their transition to their life and studies in Canada.

Being an IPL is a great opportunity  to share your knowledge and experience as a senior student at the U of S and living in Saskatoon.  IPLs are required to have completed one year of academic studies.

Benefits of being an I-Connect Peer Leader (IPL):

  • learn about new cultures
  • enhance your leadership skills
  • develop your cross-cultural knowledge and communication skills
  • enhance your resume!

IPLs are involved in:

  • communicating with new international students before they arrive in Saskatoon
  • creating a welcoming environment for new international students
  • bringing new international student together and create opportunities for them to make friends
  • being an active team member
  • participating in  I-Connect  events and activities
  • contacting international peers through the I-Connect PAWS group
  • leading “crews” at our International  Welcome
  • being friendly and having fun!
