On-campus Recruitment
Download the On-campus Recruitment Guide
“On-campus Recruitment” is a term used to describe the process through which employers recruit students from the University of Saskatchewan, utilizing the services offered by the Student Employment & Career Centre (SECC). In addition to advertising job opportunities, some employers request the SECC to pre-arrange interview space at the SECC and make arrangements with the candidates selected for interviews on the company’s behalf. On-campus recruitment can occur during a specified recruitment cycle or independent of these preset timeframes. It is important to be aware that not all companies that post their opportunities on our website, and for whom the SECC collects applications, will interview on-campus.
Furthermore, there are a variety of additional avenues that employers may utilize to find the best students. The employer may choose:
- To be a part of a strategically timed recruitment process
- To hold an information and/or briefing session
- To participate in an SECC career fair
All University of Saskatchewan students (all years) and alumni are encouraged to participate in the recruitment process. On-campus Recruitment involves opportunities for summer or new grad positions.

Recruitment Cycles

Depending on your discipline, the SECC offers specific, targeted recruitment cycles at strategic times throughout the school year. These recruitment cycles are industry driven, based upon the demands of the current labour market. Timelines and recruitment campaigns are designed to meet these demands.
The recruitment cycles being offered to date by the SECC include: Accounting/Finance, Multi-discipline (including Engineering, Agriculture, Arts & Science, Business), Pharmacy and Education. As many of the timelines occur in the first term, it is imperative that you make necessary preparations in advance.

Take the time to carefully review any job offers. Consider all relevant criteria before you accept an offer. - Job Acceptance
Discuss any additional details related to the position upon accepting the offer. These may include expected start date and required dress. Promptly inform other organizations that presented you an offer of your decision.

Information Sessions
Companies host information sessions to talk to targeted audiences about their organization and what employment opportunities they have to offer. Information sessions are always held prior to an application deadline and you can generally expect food and refreshments to be served.
Although these sessions are offered throughout the school year, the majority of these sessions are held in the first term, specifically in September. If the SECC has coordinated the session, it will be advertised on the events calendar and job posting sections of the SECC website.
Anyone can attend an information session, although some sessions may be targeted exclusively toward specific colleges/majors. Watch the advertisements carefully to ensure that the session is the right fit for you.
It is an opportunity for you to network and speak directly with representatives from the company. To attend, RSVP your attendance to the SECC, as per the directions given on the advertisement. By attending, it may also help with your decision to apply and allow you to write a targeted cover letter that references your discussions at the information session.
Briefing Sessions
Briefing sessions are generally held the night before the interviews. They are held specifically for the candidates that have been selected by the employer for interviews.
It is very important that you attend these sessions if invited, as you have been selected to attend and information about the interview and the organization will be discussed. It is also an opportunity for you to meet your interviewer(s) one-on-one prior to the interview, potentially making the actual interview a little less stressful.
The SECC recommends business professional or business casual attire unless otherwise indicated.
