Returning Home
Transferring Credits
When participating on an academic study abroad program, you may be able to receive credit for the studying you complete overseas. Although not all courses or programs are recognized by the University of Saskatchewan for credit, there are many courses that are!
Make sure you speak with your college before you participate on an academic study abroad program to see if the courses you will be taking will be recognized by the University of Saskatchewan!
Re-entry Culture Shock
Upon your return home, you may experience a re-entry culture shock, which is very similar to the initial Culture Shock you may have experienced when first arriving overseas. Re-entry culture shock is a very common reaction you may go through as a part of your re-adjustment to life in your home country after spending time in another culture. For more information about re-entry culture shock and how to manage it, please read the Preparing to Go Guide - for all Study Abroad Students.
Reconnect
The International Student and Study Abroad Centre welcomes all returned exchange students to attend a Reconnect session. This session provides an opportunity to discuss your study abroad experience and connect with other students.
Sharing your new knowledge and experience
Your study abroad experience will provide with valuable knowledge and perspective that will contribute to our campus community. You can share your newly gained experience across campus in many different ways.
-
One of the best way to share your experience is by helping others wishing to participate in the same program you have completed. You can do this by sharing your experience in different information sessions, or by speaking with students who have already been selected to participate.
-
You can speak with the International Student & Study Abroad Centre on ways you can help new International Students to get settled in Saskatoon.
-
You can continue your Study Abroad experience by registering for Study Globally, Act Locally Community Service Learning. This program provides participants with an opportunity to explore Saskatoon's local community with the global context of issues such as culture and language, immigration, and indigenous communities.
