Working abroad:
There are many benefits to working abroad. You can choose to work abroad for a short period of time or gain professional work experience by working on a specific project or in a specific region. the U of S Student Employment and Career Centre (SECC) has the resources and expertise to help you find the right fit and they can help you with the application process. You can browse the available opportunities either by country or by organization on the SECC website by searching under "international" options.
Teaching English Abroad:
There are many opportunities available to those who are interested in teaching English abroad. Teachers are not always required to have formal qualifications but it is a good idea ot get the English as Second (or Foreign) Language (TESL/TEFL) certification as it can open many doors. Non-profit or Volunteer work abroad is a great way to explore the global village and learn about the world while contributing to a cause that you care about. Whether you are interested in a specific region of the world or a humanitarian cause that is important to you, there is a world of opportunities out there. Some organizations pay for your travel expenses and living costs while others require that you have a budget and pay for some or all of your expenses.
