Making new friends is an important part of adjusting to life on campus and in Saskatoon. A great way to do this is to join an International Peer Group. International Peer Groups have up to 10 new international students and are lead by two or three International Peer Leaders (IPL's). Group members meet at the Welcome and continue to provide support for each other throughout the term.
As a new international student, when you come to the International Welcome Program, you will be assigned to an undergraduate or a graduate International Peer Group. During the term, International Peer Leaders keep in contact with you and join you at activities and events on and off-campus.
International Peer Groups give new international students access to peer leaders who can answer your questions about settling in Saskatoon, how to get help on campus and where and what to do to enjoy student life at the University of Saskatchewan. International Peer Groups are a great way to form a new community!
New students who are not able to attend the Welcome event are still eligible to join an International Peer Group. Simply email iso.peersupport@usask.ca and ask to be added to a group.
International Peer Leader positions are designed to extend a skills development opportunity to senior U of S students while they make new friends and learn about other cultures. In addition, leaders will receive an honorarium of $250 per term.

The International Graduate Student Program is a peer-led support program for international graduate students and their families. This service will enable international graduate students to receive information and support from fellow graduate students and is aimed at aiding and enhancing your experience as students at the University. If you want more information on this program, please contact the ISO.
During the year, the International Student Office hosts many events in collaboration with other student associations and university groups on campus. These events include International Week, International Education Week and other cross-cultural celebrations. Keep up-to-date on these events by visiting our website and calendar. We will also keep you informed through your PAWS email account.
If you want more information, or if you want to get involved, please contact the ISO. Your involvement is always welcome!
