You can be a central part of one of the most exciting and important times in the lives of new international students at the U of S! You can be an International Peer Leader!
We are looking for students who want to be part of a dynamic, caring and motivated student leadership team for our International Student Welcome Program. The International Student Welcome Program offered through the International Student Office is one of the most important ways for international students to receive the help and community they need to be successful in their transition to their life and studies in Canada.
Being an International Peer Leader is a great opportunity to be a guide and mentor for new international students and to share your knowledge and experience as a student at the U of S and in Saskatoon. It is also a terrific opportunity to learn about new cultures, develop upon your cross-cultural knowledge and skills and gain valuable group leadership experience and enhance your resume!
International Peer Leaders (IPL) are involved in:
- communicating with new international students before they arrive in Saskatoon
- greeting new international students at the airport
- assisting new international students with their settlement needs at our Meet & Greet Lounge
- leading “crews” at our International Welcome Day
- co-leading International Peer Groups of 8 – 10 new international students
- participating in and helping organize International Peer Group Activities
- contacting your International Peer Group on a weekly basis
