of scholarships, bursaries, prizes or medals. Awards serve three purposes…
- To reward past academic achievement
- To encourage future scholarship
- To provide financial assistance
The University of Saskatchewan administers a wide variety of awards for
current students. Many of these awards require an application,
so check out the awards search and see what may be available for you!
Definitions
Scholarship – a monetary award made on the basis
of academic achievement. Some scholarships may also include consideration
of school and community activities, qualities of leadership or other criteria,
but not financial need.
Bursary – a monetary award made on the basis of
financial need. Some bursaries may also include consideration of academic
achievement, school and community activities, qualities of leadership or
other criteria.
Prize – an award made in recognition of some specific
accomplishment. Prizes may be in the form of books, plaques, subscriptions
or money.
Medal – an award made to a graduating student to
recognize superior achievement.
Award – a general term that encompasses scholarships,
bursaries, prizes and medals.
