Session descriptions
Arts and Science: Ask US!
The roots of the University of Saskatchewan began with the College of Arts and Science. It is the oldest and largest college on campus. Students in the College of Arts and Science have access to over 350 of the best professors found in any post-secondary institution. With over 60 study areas, your education has the opportunity to be as diverse as you want it to be.
This session will guide you through the choices necessary to begin your first year of study and make it a successful one. This session will look at money matters, parental access to information, Arts and Science collegial policies and challenges around first-year transition.
Aboriginal Students' Centre
The ASC is here to help students! The ASC helps in assisting with setting up cultural meeting places and ceremonies on campus (and off campus). We can be a helpful resource for students, faculty or staff or can provide a friendly, non-judgmental person for students to talk with and share your university experiences.
This session will look at the services provided by the Aboriginal Students' Center and typical challenges of First-Year Students.
Bookstore
We are proud to be a part of the University of Saskatchewan academic community. As such, our role is to provide students with convenient access to purchase their textbooks.
This presentation will focus on illustrating how students and parents can save a lot of money by shopping with us. We will be discussing our online tools to make Book purchases easier, as well as the Bookstore Fund Scholarship and Huskie Athletic Programs.
Campus Safety
Brought to you by Bob Ferguson, the Director or Campus Safety and father of two university students, this presentation will be an overview of Campus Safety's services and aims to provide you with information to help students protect themselves, and their valuables from theft and harm.
Edwards School of Business
The Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Saskatchewan offers top students an exciting opportunity to study business and prepare for a rewarding career. Edwards students choose from a variety of major specializations; polish their strategic thinking, communication and management skills; gain experience in the business world through the co-op program; and may even represent the School in future business case competitions.
This session will look at support services students at the Edwards School of Business will receive, including one-on-one guidance on a wide range of academic, administrative, and social concerns, as well as referrals to other college advisors and university services.
Engineering
The College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan is committed to innovation in all aspects of engineering education and research. We deliver an accredited professional education that effectively prepares our students to become engineering professionals, society leaders and technical entrepreneurs. Our promise is one of an enhanced learning experience that will allow our students to achieve their full potential.

Kinesiology
Find out why the College of Kinesiology is the place to be for your son or daughter. Learn about our award winning faculty and staff and the amazing research that is going on in the College of Kinesiology. Find out what College of Kinesiology Alumni are doing? This session will inform you of the great things that happen in the College of Kinesiology. The session will also focus on college policies and challenges your son or daughter may encounter in their transition from high school to University.
Student Central
Student Central is the first point of contact for students at the U of S. Student Central Officers are information specialists who guide students to campus-wide services and resources while treating them as the multifaceted individuals that they are. This holistic and centralized approach acknowledges that our students need to focus on the challenges of academics, not the challenges of bureaucracy. In this session, we'll look at the supports provided by Student Central including paying for classes, getting student loans signed and much more. If we can't help, we'll make sure to find someone on campus that can.
Student Support Services- The First-Year Transition
Student support services, broadly, works with different partners on campus to build a culture that supports first year transition. In this session, we hope to explore some of the major obstacles a first year student might face, and approaches to support the unique needs of first-year university students as they transition to university culture.
Student Employment and Career Center
The SECC contributes to student success by empowering students/alumni with the necessary tools, resources and supports to make a successful transition from education-to-career. This session will look at a typical student career path and the connection of the university experience to future career.
University Learning Center
The University Learning Centre was created in January 2007 to support and enhance teaching and learning at the University of Saskatchewan. Our goal is to be an active advocate for exemplary practices and innovations in teaching and learning on campus and beyond.
