Common Interview Questions
Interviewers have different styles, but many employers use common
interviewing techniques.
Behavior
interviews focus on questions that will enable the interviewer
to gather information about the applicant’s past behavior
that is directly relevant to the position for which they are being
interviewed.
In a behavior interview, employers try to predict your reaction to
situations that may arise under their employ, based on your past reaction
to similar situations in other workplaces, volunteer situations or an
educational setting. More specifically, employers look for a specific
skill you demonstrated or failed to demonstrate in a particular situation.
“The best prophet of the future is the past.”
Lord Byron 1823
Some interviewers focus on questions relating to your work
experiences, education,
interests,
personal
qualities or other indicators. Often, an employer will use
a combination of these types of questions and behavioral questions.
