safeTALK: Suicide Alertness for Everyone

All events Wellness

At a LivingWorks safeTALK workshop, you'll learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, engaging someone, and connecting them to an intervention resource for further support.

SafeTALK is a 3 hour training program that teaches participants to recognize and engage persons who might be having thoughts of suicide and to connect them with resources trained in suicide intervention. SafeTALK stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide.

Learning outcomes:

  • Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts might be present
  • Recognize the invitations for help are often overlooked
  • Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide.
  • Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe.
