The Bowl
Orientation is held in the Bowl at the University of Saskatchewan campus.

New students in the colleges of Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Education Edwards School of Business, Engineering, Kinesiology, St. Thomas More College, and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Make friends, get familiar with campus, find your classrooms, learn about your college and have a chance to win great prizes.

Help and information: If you’re lost or don’t know where you are supposed to be, look for the Information tent in the Bowl (during Orientation). Volunteers (in yellow) or staff (in white staff shirts) can help point you in the right direction.

If you are new to Canada or are interested in learning about services and activities for international students at the U of S, you are invited to attend this event hosted by the International Student and Study Abroad Centre. It is a great opportunity to meet and socialize with your new peers. The event will consist of a formal session detailing life at the university, followed by a fun social event with free food and activities and a chance to get to know a few of the student groups on campus. New international students are also encouraged to drop by the Welcome Centre in Lower Place Riel between August 28 and September 8. 

Students attending this event should also attend Orientation on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

Aboriginal Student Welcome

Whether you are a new Métis, First Nations or Inuit student or are returning to university after time away, we look forward to welcoming you. The day will begin with a lunch hosted by the Aboriginal Students’ Centre (ASC) followed by welcoming remarks and programming, including our annual World Café mini fair where you will learn about services offered and colleges on campus. Throughout the day, you will have the chance to make friends, enjoy our candy bar and win great prizes, including an iPad. 

Students attending this event should also attend Orientation on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

Smart Start is a series of workshops to help you develop the academic skills to be successful in university. All levels of students are welcome to attend and our sessions are short, helpful and FREE. With topics on learning strategies, take-away resources and tips from other students, Smart Start workshops are led by your peers--academically strong upper-year students, including PAL Peer Mentors and SLS (Student Learning Services) Tutors.

Are you interested in one of the undergraduate environmental programs offered on campus? Join us to learn about eight environmental degree programs offered in three different colleges (Arts and Science, Agriculture and Bioresources, and Engineering). Find out about the environmental student groups on campus and other opportunities unique to students in the environmental programs such as EnviroConnect workshops and more. Following the presentation there will be a chance to meet with faculty and current students at the event.

This event is part of the U of S campus-wide Orientation for new students on September 5, 2017. You are automatically registered when you sign up for Orientation. 

You will meet your fellow students and complete a scavenger hunt that will introduce you to the campus and college. Finish the scavenger hunt in the Agriculture Building atrium and enjoy some refreshments, as well as a meet and greet with the Agriculture Students Association!

You will also get a chance to learn the ins and outs of AgBio university life from senior AgBio students. The tips you learn from them will prepare you to succeed as an AgBio student and eventually as an AgBio graduate! We want you to have a smooth transition to university life and have planned this orientation to introduce you to academic services, and social and recreational activities available to you. Come meet your faculty, upper year students and college staff.

Mandatory for all first-year Law students to attend the two-day program

No advanced sign-up required.

College of Law orientation includes class registration for first-year students, and introduces them to the college, the dean and faculty, and fellow students. It is mandatory for all first-year students to attend the two-day program.

Upper-year and graduate law students, and College and Native Law Centre faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the Welcome and Reunion BBQ lunch in the college’s student lounge on Tuesday, September 5 at 12:15 pm.

JSGS Get Connected! 2017 brings together students, faculty and staff from both campuses and provides you with an opportunity to meet your cohort, learn more about the school and what is has to offer. Meals and snacks will be provided throughout the day; however, we do recommend that students bring a water bottle. To properly plan for the day, all new students are required to register.

Campus tours

  • Campus Tours will take place during the afternoon of Orientation on September 5, 2017.
  • Additional campus tours will also be offered on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30 am or 1 pm.
  • If you have already taken a campus tour, please note that these tours will feature the same buildings and information.
  • Tours will last approximately 60 to 80 minutes.
  • When you sign up for Orientation, you have an opportunity to also sign up for the campus tours that will be held on Saturday, September 2.
