Message from the dean

To recognize and celebrate the College of Agriculture and Bioresources fall 2020 graduates, Dr. Angela Bedard-Haughn (PhD) recorded the graduation video above. A written version of her address is below.

Hi, I’m Angela Bedard-Haughn, new dean of AgBio, and on behalf of all of us here in the college – congratulations on your accomplishment!

As you head off on the next stage of your journey, you may find yourself surrounded by co-workers who seem to have it all figured out.

You can find yourself experiencing something called impostor syndrome. Worrying that any moment now, someone will realize that human resources has made some sort of mistake and call your bluff – you don’t belong here, you’re not a real (scientist, grad student, fill-in-the-blank).

But you’re not bluffing – you do belong there. That parchment proves that not only do you have knowledge and experience, you have the ability and adaptability to learn new things – and keep on learning.

So, wherever you are in your journey, remember, you are not an impostor – you are an Agro! And we are proud to call you alumni!
