Bursaries

October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships

June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

Gurbachan Singh Basran and Basran Family Endowment Fund

Value: $1,500
Number offered: 1
Eligibility: Open to continuing undergraduate students in a degree program in the College of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine, and the College of Law. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate financial need.
Selection criteria: Academic merit and financial need
Donor: A gift from Mr. Gurbachan Singh Basran and family. Mr. Basran is a U of S alumnus (B.A. Hons; B.Ed.; M.A.) who immigrated to Canada in 1965. Mr. Basran was a high school teacher in math and sciences for 25 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Basran supported his four children to obtain a higher education in the fields of engineering, law, and medicine.
