Improv helps us to:
- Add ease to socializing and feel less awkward
- Add confidence to your interviewing game
- Be in the moment and feel capable, even when you don’t know what to say
Shirley Cuschieri, BA, (she/her/hers)
Shirley has a Bachelor Arts in Psychology and a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling. In 2006, she started improv at Second City in Toronto and graduated from student to performer over the years – at Second City, Bad Dog Theatre and Impatient Theatre. Later, classes with world-renowned improvisors and comedians continued to feed the Improv bug, and more recently in Saskatoon, she was part of the comedy collective “The Lady Bits”. Improvising for Shirley, has always been a journey, and she continues to be both a student and teacher. Working on campus in various roles, she has had a chance to be admin support for students, faculty, and senior admin. She volunteered at S.W.I.T.C.H. and the Calder Centre during her degree studies and saw how creating connections with others is a foundational building block for success. She is overjoyed that the USask Student Wellness Centre has included this workshop time slot for some unrehearsed fun, learning and laughter.
'Roads to Wellness' was created by the Student Wellness Centre to offer opportunities for wellness and healing to university students and staff in group experiences facilitated by Mental Health Clinicians, Educators, and Counsellors who offer a variety of expressive and somatic techniques. We aim to expand our reach so that students and/or staff/faculty have an experiential gathering time, feel a sense of connection and community, and have broader access to mental wellness services.
