Your study permit is the document that lets you study in Canada, and it comes with conditions you're responsible for meeting.
This session starts with what a study permit is, and how it differs from the visa or eTA in your passport. From there we'll read a study permit together: what the conditions printed on it mean, and what staying in compliance actually involves.
That leads into the question students ask most — how much you're allowed to work, on campus and off — along with the compliance pieces that are easier to overlook, like what happens when you take a leave from your studies.
We'll then do a live demo of a study permit extension application, and go over the documents you'll generally need to keep your permit valid.
Finally, a reminder about travel: extending your study permit isn't enough on its own. If you plan to leave Canada and come back, you'll also need a valid TRV or eTA — and if your visa expires alongside your permit, extending one doesn't renew the other.
Even if your permit doesn't expire for another year or two, the conditions apply now. Come with your questions — we'll leave time to answer them.
