2026-2027 tuition and fees
Note: Tuition and fees rates below are effective from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027. All tuition rates (including flat fees), are subject to annual increases.
Many graduate programs have their own tuition rate. Start by looking for your program in the tables below. If it isn't listed, the standard rate applies.
Tuition may be assessed in different ways:
- Per credit unit —most courses (classes) are 3 credit units
- Per term — assessed each academic term
- Flat fee — assessed for the program
- Per year — assessed annually
Fees:
- Student fees - all graduate students also pay mandatory student fees each term for services such as health coverage and bus passes.
- Course fees - some courses may include additional fees including equipment or instrument rental or replacement, excursion or field course fees, lab fees, materials fees, and software fees.
Tuition is typically billed and due in instalments, four times per year.

Student fees
In addition to the tuition above, students also pay fees for programs like health and dental insurance, a bus pass, and other campus services. The amount you need to pay depends on if you are taking classes full time or part-time, and if you are on campus or not. If you are both graduate and undergraduate student within the same term, you will be assessed the appropriate undergraduate and graduate fees.
Definitions
On-campus: Students who are taking in-person classes are assessed on-campus student fees.
Off-campus, audit or Distance Education: Students who are taking traditionally off-campus, audit or distance education classes are assessed off-campus student fees.
If you are looking for student fees for the Spring or Summer terms of 2025, refer to the 2024-2025 tuition archive.
Opt out of fees
You may be able to opt out of your health, dental, and transit (GSA U-PASS) plans. The eligibility requirements and process differs for each.
Opt in of fees
If you have not been assessed health and dental fees in the Fall Term but are taking part-time, off-campus, or outbound exchange classes you may be eligible to opt in to the health and dental plans.
Thesis tuition reduction policy
Students who defend their thesis before the end of a term may be eligible for a partial tuition refund.
To be eligible, all degree requirements must be completed, including:
- Application to Graduate
- All required paperwork from the academic unit and student
- Successful electronic submission of the thesis
Tuition credits are pro‑rated monthly and applied to the student’s account by Registrarial Services. Tuition and fee notes
- Continuous registration requirement — All graduate students except postgraduate diploma students must maintain continuous registration in their programs.
- CGPS policy — CGPS policy on tuition and fees can be found in the CGPS Policies and Procedures manual.
- Tuition assessment and corrections — Tuition fees are assessed at the time a student registers. They are subject to validation for accuracy and correctness at any time by Registrarial Services. If an error is made in assessing a student's account, upon discovery, the student's account will be retroactively reassessed and the student notified of any amount credited or debited, regardless of whether or not the student has completed the class, graduated, or is no longer attending the university.
- Canadian and international tuition rates — International students registered in graduate masters programs are assessed a tuition rate above the rate for Canadian students. International students registered in graduate PhD programs are assessed the same tuition rate as Canadian students. Refer to the Tuition Schedule for the international tuition assessed in your program.
- Tuition and fees authorization policy — The tuition and fees authorization policy can be found on the Governance Office's website .
- Student fees — Student fees are assessed in addition to tuition fees.
- Student fee refunds and access to services — Student fees are non-refundable after the registration change deadline for a given term. For multi-term classes (classes extending over two terms), students fees are non-refundable after the registration change deadline of the first term in which the class is offered. If a student withdraws from all classes in a term after the registration change deadline, access to the PAC, Fitness Centre, Huskie games, and eligibility to participate in Campus Recreation will discontinue.
- Courses not required for a degree — Students taking courses that are not required for their degrees must pay the full cost of the courses.
- Undergraduate classes in course-based programs — Graduate students in course-based programs registered in any undergraduate classes will be assessed tuition for these classes at the undergraduate rate. International graduate students in these programs registered in undergraduate courses, whether or not the classes are part of their program of study, will also be assessed undergraduate international tuition.
- Undergraduate classes in thesis/project-based or special tuition programs — Graduate students in thesis/project-based or special tuition programs registered in any undergraduate class which is not part of their program of study will be assessed additional tuition at the undergraduate rate. International graduate students in these programs who are registered in an undergraduate class which is not part of their program will be assessed additional tuition at the undergraduate international rate.
- Approved undergraduate classes in graduate programs — Graduate students in thesis/project-based or special tuition programs who have an approved undergraduate class added to their graduate Program of Study may be eligible to have assessed undergraduate tuition removed for that class. Eligible undergraduate class tuition will be removed after the add/drop date but before the payment deadline for the term. Please contact grad.fees@usask.ca if you have any questions.
