Bursaries
October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships
June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

Eligibility: | Awarded annually to a novice writer for literary work which includes Ukrainian Canadian Characters or is based on a Ukrainian Canadian Theme. Only completed works will be considered. All genres of writing (including novels, short stories, poems, essays, and dramatic works) are acceptable. Open to Grant MacEwan College students and other authors. Preference will be given to young writers who have not yet had their works published on a regular basis, and who are considering writing as a profession. |
Donor: | Anna (nee Raycheba) Pidruchney was an Alberta homesteader, community activist, artist, and author of two books about Ukrainian Canadian pioneer life. She taught numerous writing classes in both the Ukrainian and English languages, and had a special interest in young people. This award was established in 1989, in recognition of her lifelong commitment to encouraging and promoting the works of young writers. |
Apply: | Apply in writing, including a copy of your completed work. Only one entry per applicant is to be submitted. Letter of application must include the author's name, full address, phone number, date of birth, and a brief biography or resume. Submitted materials will be returned to the applicant only if a stamped, self-addressed envelope is provided. Requests for the return of submitted materials must be clearly stated at the time of application.
