This message is sent on behalf of Dr. Marnie Kramer, Associate Dean Academic, College of Nursing:
As you may be aware there was a critical incident that occurred at the Royal University Hospital on January 9th, 2026, that resulted in the death of Trevor Dubois. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the Muskoday First Nation. We also recognize the impact of Trevor’s death on our broader USASK community, particularly at the Prince Albert campus, where many faculty, staff, and students knew him personally.
While our initial response was delayed due to assessing if any students were in the unit at the time of the incident, I am now reaching out directly to faculty, staff, and students. Please note that we are aware that this critical incident is still under investigation. However, considering the relational impact and the seriousness of this incident, it is important to create opportunities for the PA campus community to come together, connect, and reflect.
The College of Nursing Knowledge Keeper, Dr. Kathleen McMullin, has offered to facilitate an in-person Sharing Circle for PA campus students, faculty, and staff to hold space for Trevor and to offer opportunities for connection and reflection. The sharing circle will be at the Prince Albert campus on Thursday January 29th at 1:00 pm at the Gathering Space.
