Eligibility: | Open to students entering and/or continuing a graduate degree program at the University of Saskatchewan. The criteria are as follows:
Preference will be given to students continuing graduate studies with a major in Indigenous Studies as determined by the department. Graduate students are expected to discuss their application with their supervisor. Successful applicants may also be called upon to present their work to the department or other setting as agreed to by the student, and, if a graduate, their supervisor. |
Donor: | Dr. Howard Adams (1921-2001) was born and raised in St. Louis, SK. A Metis scholar and a political activist, he donated this award to support Metis and Non-Status Indian graduate students. He wanted only to be remembered as a person who worked uncompromisingly to get his people a fairer deal. |
Apply: | Students are to apply to the Department directly with a letter outlining their eligibility and how their current studies contribute to Indigenous Studies. The amount of the award will be determined by the Department annually. Award Contact: Leonzo Barreno leb002@mail.usask.ca |
