Bursaries

October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships

June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

Eligibility:
  1. University Band Scholarship: Open to full time students in the final year of the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree programs, whose majors are wind or percussion performance, and who are participating members of the University Wind Orchestra, Concert Band or Jazz Band.
  2. Conducting / Composition Scholarship: Open to full time students in the final year of the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree programs, whose majors are conducting or composition.
  3. Orchestra Scholarship: Open to full time students in the final year of the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree program, whose majors are wind, percussion or strings performance, who are participating members of the University Orchestra.
Donor: Established by University of Saskatchewan Band Alumni and Saskatoon Symphony Alumni in memory of, and as a permanent recognition and tribute to, the late Dwaine Nelson. Professor Nelson was instrumental in establishing Music and Music Education in Saskatchewan with his inspirational leadership of the University of Saskatchewan Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Stage Band, the Saskatoon Symphony and Junior Symphony, and his extensive Music Education and conducting activities in Saskatchewan.
