Bursaries

October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships

June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

SaskEnergy Scholarships for Indigenous Students

Value: $2,500
Number offered: 1
Eligibility: Open to students pursuing undergraduate study toward the following degrees:
  • Bachelor of Commerce
  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • Bachelor of Arts in the following disciplines: Economics, English, History, and Political Science
  • Bachelor of Science in the following disciplines: Renewable Resource Management, Economics, Computer Science, Environmental Earth Sciences, Geology, Land Use and Environmental Studies, Public Administration

Candidates must:
  • have resided in Saskatchewan for a minimum of 12 consecutive months preceding the date of application
  • have achieved a minimum academic average of 65% in the preceding year of study while enrolled as a full-time student (18 credit units)
  • maintain enrolment as a full-time student (18 credit units) in the year the award is received
  • demonstrate academic ability, leadership skills, financial need, and community involvement
  • submit a statement of no more than three pages attesting to leadership skills and community involvement, which includes a 50-word biography.

Applicants must self-declare Aboriginal ancestry (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) in PAWS.

Candidates may receive only one of the SaskEnergy Awards or the SaskEnergy Awards for Aboriginal Students in any given academic year.

By their application, candidates grant permission for the University of Saskatchewan to provide their name, course of study and submitted statement to SaskEnergy for publication purposes, should they receive the award. It is the donor's wish that award recipients provide a photograph to SaskEnergy for publication purposes.
Selection criteria: Academic achievement (40%), financial need (40%), and the submitted statement (20%).
