Bursaries
October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships
June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

Eligibility: | Open to students in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in any degree program at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. To be eligible, students must submit a statement attesting that they have immediate family (father/ mother or uncle/ aunt) who are registered Saskatchewan canola producers. The Award Committee may allow applicants to self-identify as members of the family unit with no verification necessary. |
Selection criteria: | Selection will be based upon academic achievement, as determined by the Award Committee. |
Donor: | Keith Downey was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He received a BSA in 1951 and an M.Sc. in 1952 from the University of Saskatchewan. He later received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1961. Dr. Downey began his employment with Agriculture Canada in 1951 where he worked his entire career, becoming a Senior Research Scientist Emeritus in 1991. As the breader and co-breeder of 13 rapeseed/ canola varieties and five condiment mustard varieties, Dr. Downey became known as the "Father of Canola." This award is funded by an annual gift from SaskCanola. |
