Bursaries

October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships

June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

3M National Student Fellowship

ValueThe award includes:
  • Recognition in Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and 3M Canada social media, and partnering media, e.g., Maclean’s and University Affairs
  • Certificate and recognition at the annual STLHE conference in June
  • Letter from STLHE President and 3M Canada to their identified institutional leader and to the individual awarded
  • STLHE membership for two years
  • Conference registration, travel to conference, and accommodations
  • $2,000 to be spent at the discretion of the recipient
Number offeredThe University of Saskatchewan 3M National Student Fellowship Working Group will support the nomination of up to two qualified applicants who meet the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’s (STLHE) 3M National Student Fellowship competition criteria.
EligibilityThe 3M National Student Fellowship (3M NSF) honours up to ten full-time diploma or undergraduate students at Canadian post-secondary institutions who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their lives, at their post-secondary institution. These students embrace a vision of education that enhances their academic experience and beyond. Winners of the Canada-wide 3M NSF will be invited to the annual conference of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) in June of the following year. Awardees will receive a contribution towards their cost of travel, accommodation during the conference, and conference registration. Each recipient will also receive an award of $2,000 to be spent at their discretion.

This award is administered by the University of Saskatchewan 3M National Student Fellowship Working Group. The working group coordinates the promotion, institutional endorsement, and submission process for 3M NSF nominees at the University of Saskatchewan. Each year, the working group selects and supports nominees to apply for this award from the University of Saskatchewan. To be considered as a nominee for this award, you need to complete the online 3M NSF application in PAWS. To be eligible for this award, you must:
  • be enrolled full time in an undergraduate degree program at the University of Saskatchewan
  • have completed at least one full semester by January 2024
  • have not previously received a 3M NSF
In recognition of the systemic conditions of disadvantage in higher education and society, we encourage nominations of members of groups that have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized, including First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples, Indigenous peoples of North America, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and those who identify as women and/or 2SLGBTQI.
Selection CriteriaAwardees are selected based on demonstrated outstanding excellence in two equally weighted categories:
  1. Leadership: Leadership involves leading significant transformation at a post-secondary institution at an institutional, disciplinary, community, and/or societal level that demonstrates a lived commitment to improving higher education and society. Leadership fosters and supports change, and leads to a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse post-secondary education landscape.
  2. Innovation: Innovation is the novel execution of ideas that contribute to more effective practices and supports for students in post-secondary education. The result of innovation impacts people in academia and beyond

ApplyThe University of Saskatchewan 3M National Student Fellowship Working Group will support the nomination of up to two qualified undergraduate nominees who meet the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’s (STLHE) 3M National Student Fellowship competition criteria. In order to apply to be a 3M National Student Fellowship nominee from the U of S, you must complete the U of S 3M National Student Fellowship internal competition application. The competition application is available in the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS.
