Graduate awards

The Graduate Awards Database lists all award opportunities the CGPS oversees. In addition, departments, colleges, and donors from outside the university offer awards throughout the year. Use the form below to find specific awards.

Each entry provides information about the funding opportunity - eligibility criteria, the application deadline and instructions for how to apply. Search by keywords (e.g., Indigenous, SSHRC etc.) to find opportunities. Most awards are open to both international and domestic students.

In addition to these awards, the University supports graduate students through teaching, research, and service fellowships and assistanceships. For these, contact your graduate chair or graduate administrator for details.

We have changed the nomination process for the Dean’s scholarship. There are now two parts to the package.

Prospective student nominees log into Survey Monkey using their NSID and complete the information requested under Dean’s Scholarship Nomination Package Round 2 – Student Information. Here, students will enter their contact information and their Presentation/Publication records. Please note that any information connected with the applicant's presentations and publications must be in either of the official Canadian languages - English or French. Information in any other language will not be considered.

As well, they must download and sign a Student Declaration Form confirming that they have not knowingly published through predatory open-access publishing methods. This form must then be sent to their supervisor or Graduate Chair, along with a copy of their Publication/Presentation record, for signature and inclusion with the unit’s portion of the nomination package.

The nominating unit will complete the College/School/Unit Nomination for Dean’s Scholarship form and upload it to https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/Unit_Nomination by the deadline date, along with the following supporting documents.

  • Photocopies of official transcripts from all institutions the student has attended. The transcripts must be complete and legible.
  • A grade conversion sheet showing the grades used to calculate the competition GPA. We need the GPA for only the current degree program the student is enrolled in or the latest degree completed, if the student is not currently registered in a graduate program.
  • The Student Declaration form, signed by both the student and supervisor/Graduate Chair.
  • Please note that we do not require the list of publications/presentations that the student sent to their unit, as applicant's will provide this information through their portion of the application package.

All sections of the form must be completed, and it must be signed by either the unit’s Graduate Chair or Department Head (or equivalent). If any portion of the last year of funding is coming from the supervisor, we require the supervisor’s signature as well.

All information must be completed and submitted by the prospective student and nominating unit by the deadline date.
