Bursaries

October 1st is the deadline to apply for most bursaries offered by the university. Bursaries are usually given to students in financial need, though some bursaries may have additional criteria. Recipients will be notified by early February.

Scholarships

June 1st is the deadline for a large number of scholarships on campus. Scholarships are normally granted for academic achievement or leadership experiences. Recipients will be notified by the first day of classes.

EligibilityTo be eligible, students must have completed their Extended Practicum or Alternative Extended Practicum. Applicants must submit one letter of support, signed by the extended practicum host school principal and collaborating teacher(s) to demonstrate how the extended practicum has contributed to the culture of the school and fostered a positive learning environment. The letter should also provide examples of the applicant's potential as a leader in education and describe any extracurricular involvement of the student. Email the signed letter of support to awards.education@usask.ca.The applicant must also submit a one-page letter to awards.education@usask.ca describing a specific moment or experience that was the highlight of his or her extended practicum.
Selection CriteriaBased on the merits of the submissions, as determined by the Award Committee, with reference to the applicant's leadership, contribution to school culture and involvement in extracurricular activities (as shown in the support letters) as well as the strength of his or her connection with students (as shown in the personal letter).
