Chemistry, the central science, provides a molecular-level understanding of the world through chemical synthesis and structure-property studies of natural and novel materials. Chemists are at the forefront of fundamental scientific discovery and applications in materials science, drug design, diagnostics, energy, crop protection, nanotechnology, sustainability and the environment.
