Student fees

In addition to the tuition above, students also pay fees for programs like health and dental insurance, a bus pass, and other campus services. The amount you need to pay depends on if you are taking classes full time or part-time, and if you are on campus, remote or not.

Definitions

On-campus or remote: Students who are taking in-person classes or remote classes (which would normally be in-person classes) are assessed on-campus/remote student fees.

Off-campus, audit or Distance Education: Students who are taking traditionally off-campus, audit or distance education classes are assessed off-campus student fees.

If you are looking for student fees for the Spring or Summer terms of 2021, refer to the 2020-2021 tuition archive.

2021-2022 student fees

The university and third-party stakeholders continue to evaluate certain student fees for the 2021-2022 academic year (September 2021-August 2022). If changes are made to student fees, students' accounts will be adjusted as necessary.

Full-time on-campus or remote undergraduate students are registered in 9 or more on-campus credit units per term. During the Spring and Summer Terms, full-time on-campus or remote undergraduate students are registered in 4 or more on-campus credit units per term.

Tuition and fee notes

  • University tuition and fees are subject to review and revision at any time by the Provost Committee on Integrated Planning and/or the Board of Governors of the university. The tuition policy can be found on the Governance Office's website.
  • Canadian student tuition for degree programs is assessed on a per credit unit basis.
  • International students registered in undergraduate classes are assessed tuition at 3.0 times the rate for Canadian students, except for those students registered in non-degree level distance education classes in the certificate programs which are assessed at 1.5 times the rate for Canadian students.
  • Tuition and student fees are normally automatically charged to students at the time of registration (graduate students who began their program prior to May 1, 2005, are assessed manually).
  • Registration automatically results in a financial obligation.  Failure to make payment by the stated deadlines will result in the withholding of future services by the university and in some cases may result in the termination of registration.
  • Tuition fees are assessed at the time a student registers. They are subject to validation for accuracy and correctness at any time by Registrarial Services. If an error is made in assessing a student's account, upon discovery, the student's account will be retroactively reassessed and the student notified of any amount credited or debited, regardless of whether or not the student has completed the class, graduated, or is no longer attending the university.
  • Effective May 1st, 2018, the university will only accept Permanent Resident Cards as proof of permanent residency. International students whose immigration status changes to permanent resident will qualify to have their tuition differential reassessed on a prorated basis. The differential tuition for the term will be removed if PR status changes as of or before the payment deadline. Students who become a permanent resident after the payment deadline will have their tuition differential reassessed on a prorated basis starting the first date of the next full month of their change in status (e.g. if the change from international student to PR occurs on Oct 20th, the tuition differential will be prorated and removed as of November 1st).
  • Student fees are non-refundable after the registration change deadline for a given term. For multi-term classes (classes extending over two terms), students fees are non-refundable after the registration change deadline of the first term in which the class is offered. If a student withdraws from all classes in a term after the registration change deadline, access to the PAC, Fitness Centre, Huskie games, and eligibility to participate in Campus Recreation will discontinue.
  • Material fees are non-refundable, for more information, contact DEU.
  • Tuition and fees for classes spanning both terms will be split between the terms: half will be due on the Fall Term due date and half will be due on the Winter Term due date. The exception is health and dental fees, which, if assessed, are all owing in Fall Term.
  • Previous tuition information can be found in the tuition and fee archive or previous course and program catalogues.
  • Further information about audit classes can be found on the classes and registration website.
